Energy monitoring

What is energy monitoring?

As the term suggests, energy monitoring is all about recording, tracking (and analyzing) energy consumption. Monitoring energy flows can be done in various ways. In the past, this was often done by manual registration of energy meters, but with the advent of telemetry meters and the greatly increased availability of (energy) data, this is increasingly done automatically, in an EBS or an EMS.

Why energy monitoring?

In addition to the fact that energy monitoring is a mandatory measure for many organizations, there are many other reasons to get started with energy monitoring. For example, it is essential for the successful implementation of an energy policy. Without insight into the energy flows of an organization, it is impossible to make the right decisions and take steps and to track and monitor them over time.
In addition, energy monitoring with an EMS provides insight into the functioning of sustainable installations, such as solar panels, heat pumps and ATES. It also makes it possible to manage and reduce energy costs, manage saving measures and more.

The difference between an EBS and an EMS

When it comes to energy monitoring, people often talk about energy registration and monitoring systems (EBS) and energy management systems (EMS). An EBS registers and analyses energy consumption on the basis of the smart meters present within a building, with the aim of ensuring optimal energy-efficient settings and adjustments of climate installations. For many organizations, having an EBS is a legally required (recognized) measure.

An EMS basically does the same thing as an EBS, but in many cases has a broader approach. For example, data is also collected from other sources (e.g. the building management system, submeters, sustainable installations, etc.), which means that the output in the form of reports, analyses and dashboards is also broader than with an EBS.

In many cases, having an energy management system (EMS) also fulfils the EBS obligation. An example of this is the ErbisOne platform.

ErbisOne

What is ErbisOne?

ErbisOne is a web-based platform for monitoring and managing energy. It collects data related to energy, sustainability, climate, installations, etc. from all possible sources and systems. In ErbisOne, this data is translated into concrete (control) information, displayed in a way that meets the wishes of the user. With these insights, successful energy management and the completion of a successful energy transition can be implemented. Contact sales for a more detailed explanation of ErbisOne and the possibilities that the platform offers.

Who is ErbisOne for?

ErbisOne is suitable for all organizations, from small to large, that want to get started with energy monitoring. Due to the flexibility of the platform, it lends itself well to complex single-sites, such as: industry, (academic) hospitals and universities. In addition, ErbisOne is successfully used in multi-sites with extensive real estate portfolios, such as: municipalities, retail, colleges, etc.

ErbisOne is not suitable for private individuals.

What is the difference between my metering company's portal and ErbisOne?

In some cases, various metering companies also offer a portal – whether or not included in the contract – for gaining insight into energy. A legitimate question is therefore why an organization needs an EMS when it also has access to a portal of the metering company. To understand this, it is good to know the differences between both solutions.

The main difference is that many portals of metering companies offer insight based on data from their meters, while in many cases an EMS can collect data from all metering companies, which is especially useful when an organization purchases services from multiple metering companies. In addition, an EMS also offers the possibility to collect data from other sources as well. Think of data from BMSs, installations, third-party systems, etc. in order to provide a more detailed picture of the energy flows.

Finally, there is often a big difference in the functionalities. An EMS like ErbisOne typically provides the user with more options and flexibility in reporting, analyzing and visualizing energy.

Am I complying with legislation with ErbisOne?

ErbisOne is compliant with energy legislation, with a focus on Dutch legislation. For example, the obligation to have an Energy Registration and Monitoring System (EBS) is met with ErbisOne. For example, the platform offers all the mandatory reports and analyses for combating energy waste, prescribed by the RVO.

In addition, ErbisOne's modules help to comply with various obligations, such as: permit reports for ATES, the GACS obligation, ESG, CSRD, etc. and with the solution measures management, ErbisOne offers the possibility to track and monitor (legally required) measures.

Is your organisation obliged to implement specific legislation? We would be happy to talk to you to explain the possibilities of ErbisOne for this. Get in touch with us.

How much energy can I save with ErbisOne?

The amount of energy that can be saved with ErbisOne and monitoring systems in general depends on many factors. Think of the condition of the buildings, the measures that have already been implemented, the extent to which the system is being used, etc. Several studies have been done on the effect of energy monitoring, with savings ranging from 2-8% on energy consumption. From our own experience, this is a good indication, whereby – depending on the situation – a higher saving can be achieved.

Is there a demo environment of ErbisOne available?

On request, it is possible to gain access to a demo environment. Using a fictitious dataset, you can get acquainted with the possibilities of ErbisOne. Contact sales to get access to the demo environment.

Data

Which systems can ErbisOne link to?

ErbisOne offers the possibility to collect (energy) data from all possible sources, provided that these sources offer the possibility to export data. Ideally, ErbisOne use API datalinks for this, but file-based datalinks are also possible using e-mail and ftp, for example. At the moment, there are already many datalinks available in ErbisOne. If a link is not (yet) available in ErbisOne, we are happy to discuss how to develop it.

Is my organization's data safe with ErbisOne?

Yes, ErbisOne handles all your data with the utmost care! Your measurement data, building information, company data, etc. are stored in an extremely secure Microsoft Azure environment. The software itself contains extensive security, is regularly updated and is periodically tested for security. Want to know more about our approach to data security? Feel free to contact us!

Pricing

How is the price of ErbisOne structured?

The annual ErbisOne subscription consists of several parts. The main focus is on the amount of data (points) that is processed. In addition, we look at which and how many additional modules are used. Feel free to contact us to explore the possibilities and pricing.

What licenses does ErbisOne offer?

ErbisOne has an annual subscription, with two variants of licenses:
- ErbisOne Configurate
- ErbisOne full-service

More information about the license types and which one best suits your organization can be found here.

What is the duration of a ErbisOne subscription?

The term of a ErbisOne subscription is minimal one year, after which it can be renewed annually.

Support

Are there any supporting materials available for using ErbisOne?

To get the most out of ErbisOne, the users are given access to various supporting materials in the portal. For example, there are extensive help texts and instructional videos for all parts of ErbisOne. In addition, the helpdesk is available on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:00 hour for general questions about ErbisOne.

Are there user training courses available for ErbisOne?

Yes, in addition to the support materials offered online, it is also possible to get user training on location. The content of this training is in line with the functionalities in your ErbisOne license and what ErbisOne is used for within your organization.

Can my colleagues also use ErbisOne?

ErbisOne is extremely relevant for multiple stakeholders within an organization and in many cases different departments are working on energy & sustainability. In order to offer everyone the opportunity to work with ErbisOne, it does not matter to the license and therefore the cost how many users are created within an organization.
